MANDAUE City Mayor Jonkie Ouano issued an Executive Order (EO) on Thursday, Oct. 30, setting detailed guidelines for public safety, sanitation, and order during the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
The order allows all public cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbariums to operate 24 hours daily from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2.
Private cemeteries may extend their operating hours, but interments are suspended during this period and will resume on Nov. 3.
A strict liquor ban will be in effect from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2. Selling, bringing, or drinking alcoholic beverages inside cemeteries or within 100 meters of their vicinity is prohibited.
To maintain security, Police Assistance Desks will be set up in all cemeteries, and foot patrols will be conducted by the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO), Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM), and other city departments.
Visitors must follow designated traffic and parking advisories and cooperate with law enforcers and barangay personnel.
The EO enforces the “Clean As You Go” policy, requiring proper garbage segregation and discouraging the use of Styrofoam food containers. Waste disposal teams will monitor compliance throughout the three-day observance.
Bringing backpacks, jackets, sharp or pointed objects, weapons, or flammable materials is not allowed.
The order also bans playing loud music, using videoke, gambling, smoking, and vaping inside cemeteries or within 100 meters of their perimeter.(MyTVCebu)
