OIL companies have implemented a price freeze in areas severely affected by recent weather systems.
The fuel price freeze in select areas came after a mixed price adjustment took effect on Tuesday, July 29. Diesel prices went up by P0.60 per liter while kerosene went up by P0.40 per liter. Gasoline prices went down by P0.10 liter,
Petron and Shell have announced they will not implement price hikes in La Union, Ilocos Sur, Pampanga and some parts of Pangasinan, including Basista, San Carlos, Calasiao, Malasiqui, Mangatarem, Mangaldan and Umingan.
Seaoil will pause diesel price hikes in provinces within the Ilocos Region and Cagayan Valley.
“The wild ride in oil prices was largely driven by geopolitical events and uncertainty surrounding US trade policies,” the Department of Energy said in a report by Philstar.(Theressa Faye Lacandazo, USC Comm Intern)
