THE upcoming Commissioner’s Cup of the PBA Season 50 is expected to be extra competitive with the participation of a foreign team.

The Macau Black Bears are seeing action in the import-laced tournament after formally signing a Memorandum of Agreement with the league.

The Black Bears will play as a guest team in the mid-season conference that will start on March 11.

Macau will become the third foreign team to play in the Commissioner’s Cup after the Bay Area Dragons (Season 47) and Hong Kong Eastern (Season 48).

A familiar fixture in leagues around Asia, Macau is currently competing in the East Asia Super League (EASL) and the Asian Tournament.

The Garret Kelly-coached Macau will parade speedy guard Damian Chongqui, Omari Peek-Green, Phoenix Shackelford, and 7-foot-6 giant Sam Deguara.

Cebuano basketball fans had a closer glimpse at Macau after it played at the Cebu Coliseum opposite the Meralco Bolts last November. The duel was a bearing EASL match with proceeds going to the typhoon victims.(CCM)
