Lawyer owns world’s widest female tongue

AN ATTORNEY from Texas has set a new Guinness World Record for the widest female tongue.

Brittany Lacayo's tongue stretches an impressive 7.90 cm (3.11 inches) at its widest point, surpassing the previous record of 7.33 cm (2.89 inches) held by Emily Schlenker, who set the record as a teenager in 2014.

Lacayo’s tongue, which is wider than a hockey puck and nearly the size of a credit card, measures 2.5 cm (1 inch) wider than its length from the tip to the middle of her closed top lip.

It also matches the average length of an adult woman's tongue when measured from the epiglottis, the cartilage flap behind the tongue.

Lacayo decided to measure her tongue after seeing a video of Schlenker and felt inspired to test her own.

“Shock” and “curiosity” are common reactions when people see her tongue for the first time, though she has kept her record private from her colleagues. “It is neat and kind of funny,” she said.

The record for the widest male tongue goes to Brian Thompson, whose tongue measures 8.88 cm (3.49 inches). His record follows that of Byron Schlenker, Emily’s father, who previously held the title.

Lacayo’s achievement ends a ten-year streak for the previous record and showcases a fascinating aspect of human anatomy.(MyTVCebu)
