IN A celebration of beauty, artistry, and faith, a lass from Lapu-Lapu City shone the brightest and was crowned Sinulog Festival Queen 2025 on Friday night, January 17, at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Sofi Maxim Grenmo basked in the spotlight and an unexpected downpour as she dazzled the crowd and judges to best 21 other contestants.

The 20-year-old went home with a bevy of awards after also winning the Best in Production Presentation, Best in Festival Costume, and Best in Solo Performance accolades.

She also secured corporate titles such as Miss MyTV Cebu 2025, Miss Golden Topper, and Miss Winzir awards.

First runner-up honors went to Mary Josephine Paaske of Carcar City, who impressed with her performance and claimed the Best in Group Performance award along with corporate titles like Miss Coca-Cola, Miss Magnolia Templados, Miss Nutrichunks, and Miss BingoPlus

Arianne Torres from Mandaue City placed second runner-up, standing out with her award for Best in Instrumentation and the Hiyas ng Sugbo title.

The third runner-up title was awarded to Nadine Faith McCoy of Talisay City, whose spirited performance, despite performing first under heavy rain during the group segment, set the tone for a vibrant and dynamic evening.

Cyrene Chavarria Ponce of Consolacion completed the Top 5 as fourth runner-up with her festive and compelling presence on stage.

Special and corporate awards recognized other remarkable contenders. Dheya Casio Jaculbe from Barangay Kalunasan won Miss Photogenic. Danao City’s representative was crowned Miss Cebu Landmaster and received Dr. Wong’s Most Confident Award, Miss DITO, and Miss Manila Bankers Insurance. Barangay Zapatera’s candidate was named Miss TDCX.

The evening began with 22 group performances paying homage to the Sto. Niño, even as a brief rain interrupted the festivities. Following the group showcases, contestants wowed the audience in solo performances, displaying their creativity and devotion.

The night concluded with an all-candidates showdown that underscored unity and faith.

Sofi’s victory follows the reign of Mariel Bogert, the 2024 Sinulog Festival Queen from Carcar City, who previously represented Canlaon City. Bogert also shone on the national stage as the second runner-up in the Reyna ng Aliwan competition, where the crown went to fellow Cebuana Mia Tamayo of Carcar City.(MyTVCebu)
