IT MAY have cost her some lucrative projects but Kaye Abad has found joy in motherhood in Cebu City, distancing herself from the pressures and spotlight of showbiz.

During an interview with broadcast journalist Karen Davila on her YouTube vlog, Abad discussed her choice to focus on family rather than her flourishing career in Manila.

Abad, alongside her husband Paul Jake Castillo, recounted how their romance blossomed on the set of an afternoon drama in 2010, where Abad starred and Castillo played a supporting role.

Before his showbiz endeavors, Castillo was already known as a member of the affluent family behind International Pharmaceuticals Incorporated (IPI) and gained further recognition as a runner-up to Melai Cantiveros on an early edition of "Pinoy Big Brother."

Abad made it clear that she has not entirely left the entertainment industry but has chosen to lie low. Recently, she appeared on the Netflix film "A Journey."

Despite the career sacrifice of moving to Cebu when she married Castillo in 2016, Abad has no regrets.

She shared that it had always been her dream to have a family, even from a young age. Her desire to focus on family life meant she was ready to step back from acting.

Castillo, when asked about missing the limelight, acknowledged that stepping away from showbiz was a necessary decision. He humorously noted that one of them needed to quit showbiz to avoid the common fate of many showbiz couples who separate.

Abad also highlighted how much she loves the simplicity and laidback lifestyle of Cebu, a city she had only visited during the Sinulog Festival.

She now enjoys a routine life, driving her kids to school, doing grocery shopping, and visiting the mall by herself.(MyTVCebu)
