JOHNRO Electrical and Kinsman Engineering kept their unbeaten streak going after they tripped separate opponents in the 8th Architects & Engineers Corporate Cup basketball tournament over the weekend at the University of San Carlos Main Campus Gymnasium in Cebu City.

Johnro Electrical pulled off a 62-52 win over erstwhile unbeaten Buildrite while Kinsman Engineering escaped Bank of Rizal, 87-83.

The twin victories enabled Johnro and Kinsman to force a three-way tie at the top spot in the team standings as they matched Avantar’s 3-0 (win-loss) record.

Leading the charge for Johnro was Paulo Muñez, who piled up 19 points, nine rebounds, two steals, and a block. Ian Manalili backed Muñez with 11 markers.

Dex Caadan came through with 21 points and 15 rebounds and Miguel Cenabre tallied 12 markers but Buildrite stumbled after starting the tournament with back-to-back wins.

Dave Abella, on the other hand, erupted for 25 points to lead Kinsman while Ivan Mark Deo and Mark Malinao each had 13 and Wesley James Viejo dropped 10 markers.

Falling to 1-2, Bank of Rizal drew 29 points from Michael Neri and 15 and 11 markers from Jaezon Estella and

RJ Peñaranda, respectively.

In the other match, Mortabond snapped a two-game slide, barging into the win column with a tight 59-56 win over LitePanel.

Romy Faunillan topped Mortabond with 24 points, six boards, and two assists. Mark Adrian Kue and Arquim Bordomeo chipped in eight markers each.

Garrick Bande collected 15 points for LitePanel, which suffered its first defeat after scoring two straight wins to start the tournament.(CCM)
