CLOUDY skies, isolated rain showers, and rough coastal conditions are expected to prevail in Cebu this weekend and in the days ahead.
This comes as the Northeast Monsoon, locally known as Amihan, continues to affect the Visayas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In its latest weather bulletin, Pagasa reported that a low pressure area, formerly tropical depression “Auring,” was last located about 690 kilometers east of Davao City as of 3 a.m., while a shear line continues to influence eastern sections of Mindanao.
The Northeast Monsoon is affecting most of the country, including Cebu and the rest of the Visayas.
For Cebu, Pagasa forecast partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers from Saturday, January 24, through Sunday, January 25, with temperatures ranging from 25 to 30 degrees Celsius.
Winds are expected to be moderate to strong from the northeast, resulting in moderate to rough coastal waters.
From January 26 to 28, weather conditions are expected to slightly improve, with partly cloudy skies and temperatures ranging from 24 to 30 degrees Celsius.
Winds will ease to light to moderate from the north to northeast, while sea conditions along Cebu’s coasts will range from slight to moderate.
Across the Visayas, Pagasa warned of stronger conditions in the eastern sections, including Eastern Samar, Leyte, and Southern Leyte, where cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected due to the shear line.
These areas may experience strong to gale-force winds from the northeast, bringing rough to very rough seas.
Western Visayas and the rest of Eastern Visayas will experience cloudy skies with light rains, while the rest of the Visayas will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, also due to the Northeast Monsoon.
Pagasa advised small sea vessels, particularly those operating in eastern Visayas waters, to exercise caution due to potentially hazardous sea conditions.(TGP)
