GILAS Pilipinas Women bounced back from an opening-day loss with an 83-66 thrashing of Thailand in the 2025 William Jones Cup on Thursday, July 3, at the Taipei Peace Basketball Stadium.
Coming off a blowout 59-85 loss to host Chinese Taipei, Gilas sealed its entry to the win column by staging a searing second-half attack.
Jack Animam erupted for 23 points, 15 of them she made in the second half where the Filipinas mounted double-digit leads after falling behind at the half, 36-37.
The 6-foot-5 Animam also had 14 rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Vanessa De Jesus also came up with a strong showing as she was Gilas’ top scorer with 23 points anchored on three three-pointers. She also had six rebounds and three assists.
Sumayah Sugapong was the third Gilas in double figures with 11 points.
Supavadee Kunchuan scored 16 points for Thailand, which remained winless after two games.(CCM)
