GILAS Pilipinas has finally completed its roster for the 5-on-5 basketball in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand.
The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas has yet to make an official announcement but based on the official list of Philippine delegation on Dec. 4, five players have been added to the Gilas lineup.
The latest additions were NLEX star guard Robert Bolick, rookie Dalph Panopio, free agent Justin Chua and collegiate standouts Allen Liwag and Cedrick Manzano.
Gilas had to tweak its roster after the local organizing committee decided to prohibit naturalized players from suiting up. The rule severely affected Gilas as it prevented the Nationals from having Justin Brownlee and big man Ange Kouame.
The rule also prevented Remy Martin, Mike Phillips, Kymani Ladi, and Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser from joining the team.
Aside from the five latest additions, Gilas will also have Thirdy Ravena, Ray Parks Jr., Matthew Wright, and Veejay Pre, Jamie Malonzo, Von Pessumal, and Abu Tratter.
Jason Brickman, Dave Ildefonso and Geo Chiu were initially included in the lineup but pulled out to fulfill their commitment in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.
Gilas is the tournament’s defending champion.(CCM)
