ANOTHER week, another fuel price hike.
Motorists should prepare for costlier fuel starting Tuesday, September 23, as gasoline and diesel pump prices are once again set to rise.
In an advisory, Jetti Petroleum president Leo Bellas said gasoline prices could increase by P1 to P1.20 per liter, while diesel may go up by 60 to 80 centavos per liter.
Projections from the Department of Energy (DOE) also point to higher pump costs. The agency estimates gasoline prices may climb by about 70 centavos per liter, while diesel and kerosene could rise by 35 centavos and 65 centavos per liter, respectively.
If implemented, the adjustments will mark the sixth consecutive week of increases for gasoline and the fifth for diesel.
According to both the DOE and Jetti Petroleum, global oil markets remain volatile due to geopolitical tensions. Intensified Ukrainian attacks on Russian ports and refineries have disrupted Russian supplies, while heightened fears of a broader conflict in the Middle East are also putting upward pressure on prices.(MyTVCebu)
