THE supposed partnership for a weight loss program had yet to fully take off but the Philippine National Police (PNP) has decided to cut ties with fitness vlogger Rendon Labador.
Labador was initially tapped by the Police Community Affairs and Development Group (PCADG) to spearhead the police force-wide 93-day weight loss program.
But a “misunderstanding in terms of the engagement” led to the abrupt termination of Labador’s engagement with the PNP.
In a memorandum dated June 21, the PNP Directorate for Community Police Relations stated that "the CPNP has not authorized any fitness instructor to primarily lead a weight loss program for the entire PNP."
It also stressed that the vlogger was not tasked with spearheading a police force-wide initiative.
PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo confirmed the disengagement in a briefing on Tuesday, June 24, a report by Inquirer.net said.
“I understand that PCADG's engagement with him has been cut," Fajardo said, referencing information from Director General Marvin Saro.
Fajardo explained that "there was a misunderstanding in terms of the engagement with the concerned individual. Probably, Rendon just got excited when they talked, and the topic was brought up."
Despite the misunderstanding, ajardo said the PNP welcomed Labador’s input in its weight loss initiative.
This fitness drive stemmed from a directive by PNP Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III, who emphasized that a key qualification for PNP officers and members is maintaining a weight "not more or less than five kilograms of the standard weight corresponding to his or her height, age, and sex."
