AN EX-CONVICT was gunned down while eating by the road in Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City on Friday dawn, Jan. 23.

Jason Lendio Yuson succumbed to gunshot wounds in the back, police said.

Police said the victim was eating on a sidewalk around 2 a.m. when the assailant arrived. Without a word, the gunman drew a gun and shot the victim from behind at close range.

The gunman, who wore a hooded jacket and denim pants, fled after the attack.

Medics arrived and brought the victim to the Cebu City Medical Center where he was declared dead.

Scene of the Crime Operations personnel recovered two spent shells for a .45 caliber pistol in the crime scene.

Lt. Col. Jose Los Baños, information officer of the Cebu City Police Office, said the victim was jailed for illegal drug charges and was released a week before the attack.

Police are checking if the killing had something to do with illegal drug connections.(CDB)
