FILIPINA tennis sensation Alex Eala is one of the rising stars who will see action in the 2025 MGM Macau Tennis Masters on Sunday, Dec. 28.

Ranked No. 53 in the world, the 20-year-old Eala will take on No. 9 Mira Andreeva in the first day of the two-day exhibition event.

Eala and Andreeva are familiar with each other as they battled in the 2022 US Open where the Filipina defeated the 18-year-old Russian en route to winning her first junior Grand Slam title.

Eala is also partnering with Jerry Shang of China in the mixed doubles event where they will take on t Andreeva and Yibing Wu of China.

The Macau event may just be an exhibition but Eala is using it to stay in top form as she will compete in the 2026 Australian Open, which will start mid-January.

Eala is coming off a resounding campaign after ruling the womenโ€™s singles tennis in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailandโ€“a golden run that ended the countryโ€™s 26-year gold-medal drought in the competition.

Eala sealed the feat by scoring 6-2, 6-1 triumph over hometown bet Mananchaya Sawangkaew in their title match.(CCM)
