TWO overseas Filipino workers have gone missing in Hong Kong.

With this, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has issued an appeal asking the public for any information that could help locate the two OFWs, who were identified as Imee Mahilum Pabuaya, 24, and Aleli Perez Tibay, 33.

The two OFWs have been missing since Oct. 4. They were last seen in the Tsuen Wan District, according to a report from the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Hong Kong.

In a statement, the DMW urged anyone who might have knowledge of their whereabouts to come forward, saying every detail could be vital to their safe recovery. The agency called on both Filipinos and local residents in Hong Kong to coordinate with authorities if they have seen or encountered the two missing workers.

Those with information may contact the Philippine Consulate in Hong Kong or the MWO-Hong Kong through telephone number +852 2866 0640, the DMW hotline 1348, or via email at [email protected].

The DMW assured that it is working closely with its Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Hong Kong to monitor developments and extend full assistance to the victims’ families. This includes legal, medical, and psychosocial support, as well as coordination with relevant agencies for updates on the case.

“The department continues to coordinate with local authorities to ensure their safety and immediate recovery,” the DMW said, adding that the Philippine Consulate General, the Hong Kong Police Force, and the Hong Kong Immigration Department are now jointly conducting a search and investigation.

Officials said efforts are being intensified on the ground, with both Philippine and Hong Kong authorities tracking the last known locations of Pabuaya and Tibay and reviewing CCTV footage in nearby areas.

The DMW reiterated its call for vigilance among overseas workers, reminding Filipinos abroad to stay in touch with their employers, families, and the nearest MWO post in case of emergencies.(Xienderlyn Trinidad, USJ-R Comm Intern)
