MANDAUE City native Rubilen Amit will shoot for history when she competes in the 2025 WPA Women’s 10-Ball World Championship, which will start on Wednesday, Oct. 8, in Bali, Indonesia.

The 44-year-old Amit will try to become the first player to win three 10-ball world titles as she will lead a lean Philippine delegation in the prestigious tournament.

“Touchdown Bali! Praying that I will be able to bring out my game and do my best. Thank you everyone,” Amit wrote on social media on Sunday, Oct. 5.

Amit won her first title in 2009 by beating China’s Liu Hsin-mei in the championship round. She secured her second title in 2013 at the expense of English rival Kelly Fisher.

Amit’s first-round assignment will be against Venezuela’s Mirjana Grujicic.

Aside from Amit, the country will also be represented by the equally tough Chezka Centeno, who will gun for her second title after winning it in 2023 in Austria.

The 26-year-old Centeno will start her campaign against Canada’s Brittany Bryant.

Other Filipino participants are Carmille Buhat, Rhaki Constantino, Sofhia Rosales, and Denise Santos.

The tournament will be competed by a total of 64 players with a total prize fund of $175,000 (around P10.1 million). The champion will bring home $50,000 (around P2.9 million).(CCM)
