CEBU City Mayor Nestor Archival has issued an Executive Order (EO) imposing a liquor ban within the 300-meter radius of the Sinulog Grand Parade route.
Under EO 051, the liquor ban will take effect starting at 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Jan. 17. The ban will also be enforced on Jan. 18 from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Col. George Ylanan, chief of the Cebu City Police Office, said the liquor ban will be strictly enforced.
Ylanan said personnel will be sent to establishments selling liquor to relay the enforcement of the liquor ban.
“Naka butang diri nga strictly prohibited within the 300 meter radius from all official Sinulog Grand Parade routes, including assembly points, parade routes and dispersal areas especially designated by the Cebu City Government and the Sinulog organizers. So walay mamaligya, walay mag distribute, whether wholesale or retail, public drinking consumption, possession of alcoholic beverage and any other kanang gimbuhaton with regards to the selling and consumption of alcoholic beverages,” said Ylanan.
Ylana said police will be strictly monitoring commercial establishments to ensure the compliance of the ban.
Ylanan said the liquor ban is meant to prevent trouble from happenig during the festivity.
Ylanansaid four buses will be deployed and will serve as a temporary custodial facility for those who will be caught causing trouble.
Thousands of police will be deployed during the Sinulog and will be divided into 11 sectors with respective ground commanders.(CDB)
