COUNT another Remulla in the Cabinet of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Cavite Governor Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla on Tuesday, October 8, took his oath as the new Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Tuesday.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. presided the oath-taking at the Malacañang Palace.

Remulla replaced outgoing Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, who has officially launched his senatorial bid by filing his certificate of candidacy on Monday.

In a post earlier today prior to his oath taking, the new DILG chief said he has accepted this new role wholeheartedly.

“Ito po ay aking buong pusong tinanggap upang makatulong di lamang sa ating lalawigan kundi para na din sa buong Pilipinas. Ang aking adhikain mula noon pa man ay ang ipagtibay ang kakayahan ng lokal na pamahalaan at kapulisan para maging pantay ang karapatan ng lahat at tungo sa mas mabuting kinabukasan,” he wrote in his post.

Jonvic’s brother, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, earlier disclosed his appointment.

In an impromptu interview, Jesus Crispin Remulla expressed optimism about his brother’s new role, suggesting that it could enhance the justice system in the country.

He emphasized their shared vision, stating, “We don’t have any other motive; we only want the best for our country.”

The two brothers are expected to collaborate closely, particularly through the Justice Sector Coordinating Council, which includes representatives from the Supreme Court.

He also pointed out that Jonvic's appointment could lead to improved training for police and prosecutors, enhancing their capabilities in managing investigations effectively.(CMM)
