AFTER a one-year hiatus, flamboyant boxer John Riel “Quadro Alas” Casimero will be back in the ring.
The former three-division world champion announced on his social media that he will be seeing action again when he takes on Latin American fighter Saul “The Beast” Sanchez on October 13 in Yokohama, Japan.
It will be interesting to see how Casimero will perform after going on a one-year break, especially that he turned in a ho-hum performance against Japanese fighter Yukinori Oguni in Tokyo last September.
The 35-year-old Casimero was far from impressive against Oguni as the match ended in a technical draw.
Despite seeing limited action in the past several months, Casimero, who holds a record of 33 wins, 22 by knockout, four losses and one draw, remains a top contender as he is currently ranked No. 3 in the WBO super bantamweight division, No. 8 by the WBC, and No. 11 by the IBF.
Sanchez has 21 wins, 12 via KO, and three losses. He is coming off a unanimous decision victory against Filipino fighter Arthur Villanueva.(CCM)
