TWO of the Philippines’ most beloved tropical gems — Boracay and Palawan — have once again captured the hearts of global travelers, earning spots among Asia’s Best Islands for 2025 in the latest Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards.

The recognition highlights not only their enduring beauty but also the country’s strong foothold in Asia’s competitive tourism landscape.

Boracay secured the 4th spot with an impressive score of 90.54, while Palawan followed closely in 5th place with 90.23 points. These island destinations continue to stand out for their pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and world-class hospitality — a testament to the resilience and excellence of Philippine tourism. They joined other Asian favorites such as Phú Quốc in Vietnam, Langkawi in Malaysia, and Koh Samui in Thailand on the coveted list.

For Boracay, the recognition is yet another feather in its cap. Known for its powdery white sand and iconic sunsets, the island remains a magnet for both local and international tourists seeking relaxation and fun. Beyond the famous White Beach, visitors now enjoy a mix of eco-friendly resorts, vibrant nightlife, and new water activities that balance thrill and tranquility — proof that Boracay’s post-rehabilitation efforts are paying off beautifully.

Palawan, on the other hand, continues to enchant travelers with its raw, untouched splendor. Home to the majestic Kayangan Lake, El Nido’s limestone cliffs, and the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River, the province remains a sanctuary for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. What makes Palawan truly special is how it blends ecological preservation with tourism — a rare harmony that keeps it on the global map year after year.

Tourism leaders welcomed the recognition as a positive boost for the country’s recovering travel industry. The Department of Tourism emphasized that awards like these reaffirm the Philippines’ position as a must-visit destination, encouraging both domestic and foreign travelers to explore local wonders. It also underscores the importance of sustainable tourism, ensuring that these natural treasures remain vibrant for generations to come.(Victoria Diana, USJ-R Comm Intern)
