THERE is simply no stopping the Benedicto College (BC) Cheetahs as they kept their unblemished record intact with a 72-61 smashing of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Panthers in the college division of the 24th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) Basketball Tournament on Tuesday night, November 6, at the Cebu Coliseum.

The win was BCโ€™s fourth in a row as it stayed close with tournament leaders UNiversity of the Cebu Webmasters, who are 5-0 (win-loss).

UC and BC are the only teams left unbeaten in the college division. The loss pulled the Panthers down to sixth place in the team standings with six losses and only two wins to show so far.

After successfully protecting their spotless slate, a litmus test awaits the Cheetahs in their next assignment that will see them go up against the defending champions University of the Visayas Green Lancers.

The Green Lancers, who are 5-1, are aching to bounce back from a heart-breaking 75-77 loss to the Webmasters last week.

Shooting 7-of-11 from the field, Serge Gabines topped the Cheetahs with 17 points, 12 rebounds, two steals, two blocks, and an assist. Two other Cheetahs scored in twin digits with Allen Angelo Alicando and Denrick Orgong finishing with 12 and 11 markers, respectively.

Neon Chavez paced the Panthers with 14 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and five steals while Tryke Gerome Pesa added 11 markers.(CCM)
