WITH their dreaded firepower in full effect, the San Miguel Beermen posted what was by far the most lopsided victory in the 50th PBA Philippine Cup as they dealt the Titan Ultra Giant Risers a severe beating, 158-117, on Wednesday night, Nov. 12.
The Beermen had nine players scoring in double figures in a scintillating display of offensive attack that sealed their fifth straigh win.
With the 41-point romp, the Beermen forged a three-way tie at second place where they joined the NLEX Road Warriors and Rain or Shine Elasto Painters with identical 5-2 (win-loss) slates. Occupying the solo top spot are the TNT Tropang Giga, who are 5-1.
CJ Perez led the San Miguel onslaught with 26 points, including three straight four-pointers in the second quarter that broke the game wide open.
Behind Perezโs long bombs, the Beermen ended the first half with a mammoth 79-38 lead and went on to lead by as many as 50 points that paved the way for what is by far the tournamentโs longest winning streak.
Jericho Cruz added 24 points on a hot 8-of-9 shooting from the field.
Cebuano big man June Mar Fajardo was also solid for the Beermen, finishing with a splendid triple-double of 12 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists.
The hapless Giant Risers suffered their fifth loss in seven games.
