AFTER stumbling in their last outing, the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles made sure there would be another flop as they whipped the University of Cebu (UC) Baby Webmasters, 74-59, in the secondary division of the Cebu Schools Athletic Federation Inc. (Cesafi) Season 25 on Tuesday night, Oct. 14, at the Cebu Coliseum.

The Magis Eagles got back on track after absorbing a 64-71 upset loss to the University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue (UCLM) Webmasters last week. They did it by wiping out an 11-point third-quarter deficit and crushing the Baby Webmasters in the final frame.

Ateneo fell behind, 41-52, late in the third quarter but came back to even the count, 54-all, going into the final period. The Magis Eagles completed the fightback by staging a back-breaking 22-2 attack in the final stanza.

Lian Kent Basa collected 19 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and four steals to lead Ateneo’s third win in four outings. Ivan Hoffer Cardinas pitched in 13 markers while Jacob Steven Lacson had a solid double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Allen Doverte scored 13 markers and Jape Mamza wound up with 12 points in UC’s second defeat against the same number of wins.(CCM)
