HUNDREDS of minors were rescued while 16 drug suspects were arrested in an intensified anti-criminality campaign in Cebu City.
The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) reported that 573 minors were rescued from Jan. 19-25.
Col. George Ylanan, chief of CCPO, said most of the minors were caught still roaming around the city during curfew hours.
The rescued children were turned over to the Gender and Development and social welfare offices of their respective barangays for necessary interventions.
Ylanan said the series of operations were part of CCPO’s “Oplan Bulabog” and “Oplan Bakal Sita” in coordination with the Police Regional Office-Central Visyas led by Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan.
During the week-long operation, 13.45 grams of shabu with an estimated value of P19,400 were seized from drug personalities, who have already been charged in court, Ylanan said.
Ylanan said 1,666 business establishments were also inspected during the period to ensure that they are compliant with national and local laws.(CDB)
