45 teams sign up for Governor’s Cup hoops

THE return of the Governor’s Cup Under-18 Basketball Tournamet of the Cebu provincial government has drawn strong interest.

The Cebu Provincial Sports Commission (CPSC) announced that 45 teams have signed up for the tournament that will open on Sept. 26 at the Mandaue City Sports Complex.

Leading the competing teams is Talisay–the team that won the last two championships before the league was set aside by the previous administration.

Minglanilla, the league’s inaugural champion when it ruled ther tournament in 2017, begged off from participating.

Also participating are Dumanjug, Liloan, San Francisco, Naga City, Mandaue City, Alcantara, Alcoy, Argao, Asturias, Barili, Boljoon, Carmen, Catmon, Compostela, Daanbantayan, Danao City, Dumanjug, Ginatilan, Liloan, Madridejos, Malabuyoc, Naga City, Ronda, and Samboan.

Completing the field are San Francisco, San Remigio, Bogo City, Carcar City, Consolacion, Cordova, Dalaguete, Lapu-Lapu City, Medellin, Pinamungahan, Pilar, Poro, San Fernando, Santa Fe, Sibonga, Tabuelan, Tuburan, Tudela, and Badian.

Aside from Minglanilla, also deciding to skip the tournament are Sogod, Toledo, and Borbon, Poro, Tudela, and Pilar.(MyTVCebu)
