FOUR of Cebu's leading contributors in tourism, business, healthcare, and the creative industry were honored during the 3rd ProgreCEBU Awards on Wednesday night, July 23.

This year's awardees were the Municipality of Moalboal, Cebu Landmasters Inc. (CLI) founder and chairman Jose R. Soberano III, International Pharmaceuticals Inc. (IPI), and internationally acclaimed fashion designer Cary Santiago.

Moalboal received the Most Distinguished Destination Award for promoting sustainable tourism while protecting its coastal resources. The town, known for its iconic sardine run and world-class diving sites, has continued to attract local and foreign visitors through conservation-driven tourism programs.

Soberano was presented the Most Distinguished Individual Award in recognition of his leadership in growing Cebu Landmasters into one of the country's top regional property developers. His efforts have also focused on sustainable communities through environmental and social initiatives implemented by the company and the CLI Foundation.

The Most Distinguished Institution Award went to IPI for its decades-long contribution to the healthcare sector.

Established in Cebu in 1959, the pharmaceutical company has expanded its reach nationwide while maintaining programs that support public health, community development, and environmental protection.

Meanwhile, Santiago received the ProgreCebu Excellence Award for bringing Cebuano talent to the international fashion scene. His couture creations have earned recognition in global fashion events and beauty pageants, showcasing Filipino artistry to audiences around the world.

Speaking during the ceremony, Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) President Barbara Gothong Tan said recognizing individuals and organizations that create meaningful impact encourages innovation and inspires others to contribute to Cebu's continued progress.

“Recognition is important because it shines a light on stories that deserve to be told. It reminds us that progress is driven by people and organizations whose dedication inspires others to aim higher, serve better, and contribute more to our communities. That is what makes ProgreCebu more than an awards program,” Tan added.

The ProgreCEBU Awards honors individuals, institutions, and destinations whose achievements have helped advance the province's economy, strengthen communities, promote sustainability, and elevate Cebu's standing in business, tourism, and the creative industries.

The ceremony gathered representatives from the business sector, government, and various industries in celebration of excellence, leadership, and service that continue to shape Cebu's development.(MyTVCebu)
