TWO men allegedly involved in manufacturing illegal homemade guns were arrested in Danao City, northern Cebu on Sunday, Jan. 25.
Arrested were a certain Juan, 69, and his helper Cris, 31.
The two men were allegedly caught in the act of making firearms when police arrived in a shanty around 4:30 a.m. in Barangay Cahumayan, Danao.
Among the seized items during the operation were a .357 revolver, a receiver for a .45 caliber pistol and its two magazines, a magazine for a 9mm pistol, and two bullets for a .45 caliber pistol,and a bullet for a .38 revolver.
Several tools used to manufacture firearms were also recovered.
The two suspects were later brought to the Danao City Police Station pending the filing of charges against them.
Col. Abubakar Mangelen Jr. chief of the Cebu Police Provincial Office, commended the team behind the arrest.
“This successful arrest reflects our firm resolve to dismantle illegal firearms manufacturing activities. Preventing the spread of loose firearms is essential to maintaining peace and protecting our communities,” said Mangelen.(CDB)
