AFTER 17 years, Ejay Falcon, actor and Vice Governor of Oriental Mindoro, has finally earned his college degree.

Falcon graduated on August 30, 2024, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, majoring in Local Government Administration, from the University of Makati.

The graduation ceremony took place at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Plenary Hall.

Falcon began his college education in 2007, enrolling at the University of Manila to study Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM), a decision driven by his father's advice to work abroad.

However, financial difficulties forced him to halt his studies after only a few months. “Sabi ng tatay ko mag-HRM ka para makapag-abroad ka,” he recalled.

“Siguro mga four months pa lang noon, siyempre mahirap ang buhay, nag-stop ako sa pag-aaral. Umuwi ako ng province namin ng Mindoro," he said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

Shortly after, Falcon's life took a dramatic turn when he joined the TV reality show Pinoy Big Brother, launching his career in the entertainment industry.

Despite his success as an actor and later as a public servant, Falcon never lost sight of his dream to complete his education.

The opportunity to return to school came through a program at the University of Makati, designed specifically for working professionals and public officials.

“And finally, after ng mahabang panahon na nag-aral tayo, ngayon 'yung araw ng pagtatapos. And I can say na I am very proud na graduate na si Ejay Falcon!," he said.

Falcon dedicated his achievement to the people of Oriental Mindoro, emphasizing his commitment to serving as a role model for the youth in his province.

Looking ahead, Falcon plans to pursue a master’s degree and hinted at running in the 2025 midterm elections, although he did not specify whether he would seek re-election as vice governor or aim for a higher office.

“Kung may na-sacrifice man dito sa ginawa kong pag-aral, siguro ito 'yung showbiz,” he admitted, acknowledging the offers he had to turn down while completing his studies.(MyTVCebu)
