OVER 5,000 employees of the Cebu Provincial Government are set to receive a P20,000 anniversary incentive and 25 kilograms of rice as the province marked its 457th Founding Anniversary on Thursday, Aug. 6.

Governor Pamela Baricuatro announced the benefit during the anniversary program at the Capitol grounds, saying it serves as recognition for the contributions of Capitol workers in sustaining government services.

The incentive will cover regular, casual, job order, co-terminous and contract of service personnel, as well as elected officials who have completed at least one month of service before the anniversary celebration.

The Provincial Human Resource Management Office reported that the Capitol currently has around 5,070 employees.

Baricuatro said the anniversary benefit is a gesture of appreciation for employees who continue serving the public, particularly during challenging situations.

“Thank you for your service, patience and professionalism. I see your hardwork everyday, especially the many sacrifices you made to serve our people,” Baricuatro said.

She also recognized employees who continue reporting for work despite pressure and crises.

“I see you work hard, especially in times of crisis, sometimes under pressure. Still, you show up, you do your duty, and you give public service with a smile,” she said.

Baricuatro explained that this year’s incentive is lower than the P35,000 granted during last year’s anniversary as the provincial government focuses on maintaining its financial stability.

“The 20,000 is a little bit smaller than we gave last year but due to financial housekeeping nato mao na nga e make sure nga sound atong ipang hatag karon ug walay tiyansa nga bawion og balik,” she said.

The governor said the release of the incentive still requires approval from the Provincial Board.

During the celebration, Baricuatro also called on employees to prioritize public service over politics.

“For me, my loyalty to the party ends where my loyalty to the people begins. Wala ta’y pamolitika karon kay ang atoa diri pangserbisyo,” she said.

She urged employees to continue improving frontline services, especially in provincial government hospitals where residents directly experience government assistance.

“We have seen the public’s support during our Capitol activities, and I have witnessed how our programs and services are reaching the people. In return, let us serve with a smile,” she added.

As part of the province’s efforts to support employee welfare, Baricuatro announced plans to establish the Cebu Province Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy Center and Wellness Center for Capitol personnel.

The facility will include a gym, rehabilitation and wellness services, and a free laundromat.

She also mentioned the two pickleball courts and basketball courts inside the Capitol compound that employees can use free of charge.

The anniversary celebration began with a thanksgiving Mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Jonathan Rubin, who acknowledged the provincial government’s efforts while reminding officials and employees that more work remains.

The celebration featured a raffle draw where employees won laptops, tablets, portable speakers, hotel accommodation packages and a motorcycle. One employee also received a P100,000 cash prize funded by Baricuatro herself.

The provincial government also held a Family Day before the anniversary celebration, allowing employees and their children to join games and activities, including game booths, photo booths, an inflatable playground and a magic show.(MyTVCebu)
