CEBU-BASED vlogger Ronie Suan, known as "Boy Tapang," addressed allegations of physical abuse following his detention at the Alcoy Municipal Police Station.

Suan insisted that the incident was merely a misunderstanding and a fight between partners, denying claims that his live-in partner sustained bruises.

Suan stated that he did not expect the controversy to escalate, saying people would always have opinions regardless of the truth.

He emphasized that his relationship problems should not be compared to serious crimes such as murder, theft, or drug-related offenses.

He acknowledged that he and his partner had a heated argument, which led to the destruction of several household items.

According to him, his partner became furious and damaged their belongings, even breaking a door to enter his room.

He claimed to have only hugged her to stop the situation from escalating further until his mother arrived and intervened.

Suan said his mother was angered by the destruction in their home and later went to the police station to file a report.

He added that he did not resist when authorities arrived and that he voluntarily accompanied them to explain his side.

He recalled that he and his partner spoke for an hour at the police station and that she later requested for him to be allowed to go home.

However, despite their conversation, he was still detained as part of the legal procedures. He spent 54 hours in custody, during which his partner reportedly stayed nearby.

Suan claimed that no physical harm was done to his partner, arguing that there were no visible bruises on her.

He also questioned the medical report, suggesting that the findings were solely based on his partner's statements rather than concrete evidence like x-rays.

Regarding allegations that the incident was staged for content, Suan denied this, asserting that it was a real dispute between partners.

He acknowledged that as a public figure, people scrutinize his actions and mistakes more closely.

Reflecting on his time in custody, Suan described it as peaceful and even joked about returning if it were possible without a case.

Despite the ordeal, he said he and his partner had already reconciled and that the situation should not have escalated to legal intervention.

Authorities earlier stated that the altercation was triggered by Suan discovering that his partner owned a vape, which led to an argument that allegedly turned physical.

The victim claimed that it was not the first time Suan had assaulted her, accusing him of repeated abuse driven by jealousy.

Police reports indicated that the victim sustained bruises on her shoulder and right rib area.

Following his arrest, Suan underwent inquest proceedings and was formally charged with physical abuse under Republic Act No. 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act. He posted bail at P3,000 for his temporary release.

Suan, who gained popularity for his daring food challenges and unconventional eating habits, continues to deny any wrongdoing, maintaining that it was a mere misunderstanding between partners.(MyTVCebu)
