SEN. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa dispelled rumors that he went into hiding at the time that former President Rodrigo Duterte was arrested by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for alleged crimes against humanity.

Dela Rosa was notably absent when Duterte landed from Hong Kong and was sent to the Netherlands on Tuesday night.

Dela Rosa went online on Wednesday, March 12, to deny rumors that he was in hiding.

“I am ready to join the old man hoping that they would allow me to take care of him,” he said in a Philippine Star report.

Dela Rosa expressed willingness to surrender if arrested, stating he would face trial alongside Duterte at the ICC.

Dela Rosa said he can elude if he wants to, but if a warrant is issued against him, he clarified that “I’m ready to submit yself to the authorities.

Dela Rosa explained that he was out of reach recently because he was campaigning in the mountains of Surigao and Agusan.

The lawmaker expressed frustration that “the government is more excited to arrest president Duterte than the ICC itself.”

“I feel betrayed. Betrayed to the max,” he said.(Nikelyn Pahayahay, BiPSU Comm Intern)
